Started by Garret Brooks in 2012, Goodwood Design has been designing and manufacturing high-quality wood products, furniture pieces, and installations ever since. Based in Baltimore, MD, we regularly collaborate with local artists, designers, developers, and makers both in the city and up and down the East Coast.
Meet our team
Garrett Brooks - Principal & Owner
After graduating RISD with a degree in furniture design, Garrett lived and work in a Buddhist monastery doing sculptural welding. After that, he moved to Grand Rapids, MI to work as the chief preparator at the Grand Rapids Art Museum. There he designed and installed changing exhibitions. After moving to Baltimore in 2012, he started Goodwood Design with the intention of bringing to life his furniture designs. In his free time, he still spends most of his time working the shop, building furniture.
Dave Kalwa - Senior Woodworker
Dave studied classical guitar at Baltimore School for the Arts and then the Peabody Institute, before moving to New Orleans in 2016. There, he began working as a shop hand for a fabrication company. Through building out multiple museums along the east and gulf coasts, he built up a love for woodworking and worked his way up in the company. After returning to Baltimore during the pandemic, he spends his time cooking, barbecuing, playing music, and building furniture for his new house.
